Transition Year students brought the Shakespeare play 'Hamlet' to the school stage last week with colour, modernism and great aplomb. The four performances were well received by audiences of their peers and an evening show for the public last Thursday.Under the direction of Paul Walsh, the girls shone in their depiction of this dark tale. Many hours were spent rehearsing and perfecting the performance with Bridín Nolan, Gabija Varnelyte, Molly Morris, Emma Shannon, Beibhinn Whelan, Samantha Carr, Austeja Varnelyte, Geraldine Doolan, Leah O' Toole, Megan Boyle, Roisin Tobin, Cliodhna Flynn, Hayley Doyle and Chloe Thomas playing the leading roles with great command and presence.
The success of the show was down to a huge effort from all the girls in TY. They invested great time into vital behind the scenes preparation for the show including props, stage management, sound, lighting and make-up artistry on the night. Students were also responsible for set designing and costume creating. All 82 girls had their part to play in ensuring the smooth running of the event.A sincere thanks to
all involved and a word of gratitude to all our sponsors who gave so
generously.
Our production of 'Hamlet' is
one of the many tasks undertaken by our busy students and all funds raised
will be reinvested into Transition Year projects for this school
year.
