On Wednesday 21st November, all 5th year English students travelled to The Helix in
D. C. U. to see a production of William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, which is being studied as The Single Text on the Leaving Certificate English course. Students were accompanied by their English teachers Ms Burke, Ms Cherrabi, Ms Cullen, Ms Power and Mr Rolston. The play was produced by the renowned Second Age Theatre Company and all students found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable production. Fantastic skills and team spirit were on display today as twelve first year students represented the Presentation School in the FAI Futsal competition held in Colaiste Brid in Enniscorthy. All girls play soccer for various teams in Wexford yet today showcased a new range of close-contact control and agility. Placed in group 2 our girls won 1-0, 4-0 and drew 1-1 to progress to the semi-final. This was the game of the competition!!! A tense game ended in a scoreless draw so it was on to extra time. This ended in a stalemate too. Great goalkeeping and dogged defence kept the opposition away. Suddenly it was a penalty shoot-out! It took amazing goalkeeper skills and great penalty takers to finally go to sudden death! We won!!
The final was against St Mary's.... a team we had drawn with 1-1. As the game almost finished the extra time period up stepped Kate to clinch the title! What a brilliant day! The team received amazing praise from all organisers for their manners and great team spirit. Grainne Brett ended up top scorer, Sarah Harding Kenny was player of the tournament and the Presentation were county champions!! The girls will now represent Wexford in the Leinster games at the end of this month. Well done all. As part of her oral preparation of a French document, a 6th year student is keeping a blog on the last year in school. She will write several entries during the year. You can follow her blog on the French Department section. Link: http://frenchdept.preswex.ie/le-blog-dune-eacutelegraveve-de-terminale.html
