Glendalough 25km hike and stay October 2011
Every year TY students get the opportunity to take part in the Gaisce Awards. This programme allows students to
branch out and learn valuable skills. The students participate in personal skill development, community work and a physical activity. Another element is the adventure trip - this year the destination was Glendalough.
The girls set out on the 27th October alolng with Ms. Mahon, Mr McCormick, Ms. Devereux, Ms. Colfer, Mr. Rolston and Ms. Kinsella. We did a 25km hike over two days, stayed in a youth hostel, cooked dinner and breakfast for ourselves also. The course was challenging, climbing 1068 steps to the top of the Wicklow Mountains!! There was an amazing view of the lake below, it was well worth the exhaustion and sore feet. Thanks to all the teachers who volunteered to accompany the students on the trip.
